Lets not forget who’s day this is. I know that you are under pressure to ask different friends and family members to be in your wedding, but this is where things get complicated. The more people you have in your wedding party- means that less time and attention will be focused on you in that gorgeous dress.
Your friends and family will get the attention that is suppose to be reserved for you. Keep it small, a maximum of 12 people total -including you and the groom, should be the cutoff point.
Remember this is your day, and the only day you will get to shine this brightly. It is all about the bride, she is the center of attention. All of the other folks can sit down and watch.
It is unfortunate but usually within 1 year of the wedding most brides here in Mississippi cannot fit into their wedding dress ever again. So it is important that you hire a photographer to do a bridal shoot for you to preserve the memories of your wedding day and you in your special dress.
Even if you can’t wear the dress again pass it on to another deserving bride. The salvation army is in need of your old wedding dress and its a pretty good tax right off at the end of the year. And why hang on to it if you have the photos? Get the photos professionally done, you won’t regret it. It is worth the expense for the purpose of remembering the day, and how you looked at that time in your life.
Since you will be the star of your wedding, why not go all out and dress the part from head to toe? Pick a dress that flatters your individual body type, and make sure it is comfortable and well fitted. There are plenty of gorgeous and affordable options available on the web and in local bridal stores. Even if your budget is small you won’t have to break the bank to look stunning. Planning your wedding at least 1 year in advance will give you plenty of time to find the perfect dress and accessories… Don’t forget to check online, local thrift shops, secondhand stores and bridal consignment shops… Happy hunting.
First of all you have got to understand that I travel for a living, but I also shoot weddings.
Over the past 30 years I have visited more than 30 different countries and I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels and dives. I love a fancy hotel with all of the trimmings; the pool, the view, the bedding and also how pampered I feel while I’m there.
This should also be on the list of things you should save for as part of your wedding.
A honeymoon doesn’t have to be some destination faraway or some place super expensive.
Since I live in Mississippi I will talk to the brides that live in this southern region.
If you are on a tight budget but you still want to have a honeymoon here are some suggestions;
We have 3 great states to choose from, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. You can take an easy weekend driving trip to New Orleans, Gulfport or Muscle Shoals.
Book a hotel on the beach, dine at one of the local restaurants, swim together in the pool, order room service, eat some strawberries and have a glass of champagne… But most of all relax with each other… The wedding is over the guest are gone, and now it is just about you two… This is your time… Enjoy.
Here are some photos of brides I’ve shot… And all of them were stunning on their big day.
This too me as a photographer, is the number one area where a bride should not cut cost;
Hair, make up and nails!
This is your big day, all of your guest will come to see the beautiful bride.
You need your hair, make-up and nails professionally done.
Remember the wedding photos will be around for 50+ years maybe even longer.
And a professional photographer has gear that will pick up all of the little imperfections.
So… Get professionally styled, you owe it to yourself. There are plenty of beauticians/stylist that moonlight and do this on the side of their regular customers, and most of them would be glad to spend the day with you, making sure everything is just right.
Find one you can afford and also one that can style you the best. This search may take 6 months or longer, as you will have to test him/her out a few times before your big day.
The sexy shoes… That you can only wear down the aisle because they hurt your feet.
The long 7 foot train that keeps getting caught on everything… And all day you’re dragging it thru dirt and dust… No matter how high you hold it up… It ends up filthy by the time you enter the reception hall.
The big beautiful glass and water bouquet that hurts your wrist when you hold it…
I’m not saying “no” to all of these things…
but think carefully about them when gathering “THINGS” for the big day.
Shopping for your wedding day can be fun and exhausting. And the bills will growing like weeds in a summer garden. But if you start putting money away every month for your big day… For at lease one year… and stay on a budget, you will have everything paid for when the day arrives and you can relax and enjoy the day like everyone else.
But the truth is… most brides don’t plan in advance and they end up going over budget… Buying a lot of things/stuff that they don’t need. Remember this is one day… It can still be wonderful even on a budget. The most important expense is the photography but this is where brides want to cut the budget… The photos will be around 50+ years after the wedding… Where will the cake, decorations, flowers and dress be? Make the right decision… A good photographer can bring out the best in any situation.
It’s all about the mood and the moment for me. I love capturing those precious split seconds in time… The ones we can’t ever get back… But relive thru the photographs. It is extremely important that you hire a photographer that understands this… For your big day. It is my pleasure and my duty to capture ever precious moment at your wedding… No matter how tearful, joyful or playful… These are the moments that you will return to view over and over again.
Be who you are, stop following trends. You are the trendsetter. Every individual person has something unique and different about themselves why not enhance what is beautiful about you… instead of trying to fit into a mold that wasn’t designed for you or your body type. You are beautiful just the way you are.
